Managing Your Blog

If your website includes a blog, this guide explains how to create new posts, edit existing ones, and manage the publishing process.

What Is the Blog For?

The blog is a section of your website where you can publish articles, news updates, announcements, or any regular content that changes over time.

Posting regularly on your blog is good for search engine visibility and keeps your website feeling current and active.

Finding Your Blog Posts

  1. Click Blog in the left menu.
  2. You will see a list of all your existing blog posts, along with their status (Draft, Published, or Archived).

Creating a New Blog Post

  1. Click Blog in the left menu.
  2. Click the New Blog Post button.
  3. Fill in the fields:
    • Title - The headline of your post.
    • URL Slug - This is the URL-friendly version of your title. It is usually generated automatically. You do not need to change it.
    • Content - The main body of your post.
    • Excerpt - A short summary that may appear in post listings or search results (optional but recommended).
    • Featured Image - The main image shown at the top of your post and in post listings.
    • Status - Set to Draft to save without publishing, or Published to make the post live.
  4. Click Save when you are ready.

Tip: Write your post content before choosing your featured image. This helps you pick an image that matches the topic.

Editing an Existing Post

  1. Click Blog in the left menu.
  2. Find the post you want to edit and click its title or the edit icon.
  3. Make your changes to any of the fields.
  4. Click Save when you are done.

If the post is already published, your changes will appear on the live website after saving.

The Publishing Workflow

Foundry has three statuses for blog posts, controlled by the Status field in the post editor:

  1. Draft - The post is saved but not visible to website visitors. Use this when you are still working on a post.
  2. Published - The post is visible to everyone on your website. Use this when the post is ready to go live.
  3. Archived - The post is hidden from your site but kept for reference. Use this instead of deleting a post you may want to revisit.

To change a post's status:

  1. Open the post.
  2. Find the Status dropdown field.
  3. Select the status you want.
  4. Click Save.

To take a post offline (for example, if it is out of date), change its status to Draft or Archived and save.

Deleting a Post

If you want to permanently remove a blog post:

  1. Open the post.
  2. Look for the Delete option (usually in a menu or at the bottom of the page).
  3. Confirm the deletion when prompted.

Warning: Deleting a post is permanent. If the post was shared on social media or linked from other places, the link will stop working. Consider setting it to Draft instead of deleting it if you are unsure.
